Dealing with Anxiety

Hello Lovelies!

So, I'm sat here on a Friday morning with freezing cold feet, procrastinating about life. Now I know there are many things that have to be done instead of me sitting at the dining table writing this post -getting ready for work, hanging out the washing, tidying my room, hoovering, I could go on and on.. Then I realised, the reason I'm procrastinating is because I'm anxious about the coming days and what they'll bring. My practical driving exam is on Monday and I'm freaking out, I also have no plan for the future [I know I'm not the only one who struggles with this] but that makes me very anxious. I'm lucky that I don't suffer from panic attacks but I can't say it makes my life any easier.


So I thought I'd share a few tips that I like to do when doing my usual anxious procrastination thing to get back on track and get some clarity in my life..

Write Lists
This is the first thing I do when I feel I can't function straight, when everything is muddled together and I feel as though I'm going to pop, when my head is spinning and I feel like I need to pause life and take a second to remember who I am and what I love.. I grab a pen and my trusty notepad and write a list. You may be thinking 'a list of what?' my answer to that is 'anything'. I write 'To Do'lists, lists of things I need, things I want, lists of anything and everything...Starting from most important at #1 down to least important, if you happen to do them in the wrong order, who cares, I just find it easier when I see it all planned out for me.

Have a Cuppa'
This is something my Grandmother said to my Mother and something my Mother says to me, "Have a cup of tea and everything will be alright". I've mentioned this before in my Quotes for when you're down, there is something so calming about sitting down and having a hot beverage, it really just helps clear your mind and focus on everything in front of you.

Take a Shower
Something I do when I'm feeling particularly anxious is just go have a shower, I end up sitting in the shower for a good 20 minutes and trying to clear my mind and think of nothing at all.

Staying Healthy 
Something I really believe in is how much exercise benefits our mental health, whether you're just walking down the road and getting some fresh air or going to the gym to pump some iron, exercise releases endorphins that make us feel happier.  I also find that making sure I'm fully hydrated keeps a lot of my anxiety at bay, if you know me in person then you'll know that I almost won't leave the house without my 1.5L bottle of water. 

These are my top tips for keeping my anxiety low, I hope someone will see this and take something from it.

These are all really great tips - it's funny cos I could imagine lists could have the potential to stress some people out but making a list always makes me feel so much more ready to tackle the world by organizing what I to do too. Relaxing is also so important - sometimes just a 5 minute mind break with a cuppa can make all the difference when you are stressed out! I do not suffer from anxiety, but as any person with a full schedule, life generally gets pretty stressful!

    1. Thanks! I can imagine life for anyone is pretty stressful but anxiety makes it so much worse.. It's nice to know that everyone has their own little things that help them feel calm and its very important :)
